Could we actually be in store for an actual love story with this season of The Bachelorette premiering next Monday? Chris Harrison hints this may be the case, as revealed in an LA Times article earlier today. The guys who came on the show knew that Emily was The Bachelorette, and that they were competing for a single mom living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Chris says it made for a much different set of candidates. It will be interesting to see who gets weeded out quickly. The ones who are in it to booze and make out with a hot lady will hopefully get the boot quickly. Emily should make the finalists compete to see who can put her 6 year old daughter Ricki to bed without her protesting. And drive her to school, maker her lunches and help with her homework. Would anyone be left?
And yes, the producers had the nerve to put a race car driver into the mix of bachelors. As I’m sure you know, Emily’s late fiance, who died in a tragic plane accident, was also a race car driver. Cheap shot? Definitely.
Here’s to looking forward to Mondays again!

Even though Ben's season has been over for a while, I still expect the Bachelor/Bachelorette on Monday nights. Glad it's starting up again soon.

The most interesting thing is that Arie, the race car driver, was the boyfriend of one of the show producers at some point. Yikes! Talk about drama.

Maybe newly divorced Chris Harrison rides off into the sunset with Emily where they can seek fame together

I don't agree that it's cheap shot to cast a race car driver. As Chris stated in the article, racing is still an important part of Emily's life. If anything, my guess is that having a driver provides her with some familiarity – a jumping off point if you will.
Also, the love of her life died, she was engaged to Brad and that didn't pan out – there's going to be some raw emotion that pops up w/ all of that. She would be inhuman if not. Does it all make for good ratings and is ABC likely using that? Sure, but I wouldn't say they purposely procured it to provide drama.

Me too, Schnauzer girl, can't wait!!

That would solve a lot of issues, but then who would interview them at the Reunion Show?

Good point, Anon. I guess when you're in that racing lifestyle, you're actually more likely to meet people who are involved in that. Either way, can't wait!

For some reason as I began watching the show I was considering the same thing. I found myself watching for chemistry between Chris and Em.
