It’s hard to believe we’re almost at season finale (x2) for The Bachelorette already. They could have drawn this thing out even long but my guess is they’re winding down for Christmas & we’ve got a new Bachelor ready to go the first week of January. HOLY MOLY! So they managed to cram The Men Tell All & Hometown Dates into one week and here’s what I learned:
Let’s go with Hometown Dates first – always one of my favorite episodes of any Bach season:
- I absolutely adore Ivan and he and Tayshia have such an easy, natural relationship. Their dates are the most “normal” and they can connect on their similarities in so many ways. Ivan’s brother did surprise me if I’m being totally honest. He’s definitely had some rough times but did you see the tears in Tayshia’s eyes when the brother made a surprise appearance at hometowns? She was so thrilled for Ivan. Overall, I can’t tell if this relationship is moving into the friendship zone or if they’re editing it to make it seem like it’s only a B+ sorta chemistry. Also, not sure Ivan’s mom was as thrilled with their relationship (Skeptical was a word repeatedly used) as they were. Hmmm. The dad’s advice re: marriage #2 was very telling. Not sure he’s sold either.
- Zac. He’s got swagger, they’ve got chemistry and his mom’s love of Chris Harrison is awesome. I’d say Zac has the most confidence of anyone there and I think he’s the only one that’s told her he’s feeling the love so far. She’s definitely into him.
- All the sweating. Why are these guys just dripping sweat everywhere? Even at Zac’s family’s hotel room, the brother was sweaty. Do they not have air conditioning? I’m glad that Tayshia was able to jump into a fountain with Zac but my oh my, I can’t imagine how awful it must be to try and remain sweat free in front of parents you’re meeting for the first time.
- Brendan. I was still wondering what the story is with this guy – he seems nice enough but I don’t find him physically attractive. But have you checked out his Instagram? He’s definitely some sort of fashion model and looks WAY better in those photos. His smallish frame and turtlenecks just don’t come off the right way on TV maybe? I loved his adorable niece and how she interacted with Tayshia. It’s also interesting how he’s the only one that’s been divorced before and so he can relate to her divorce. She’s definitely really into him though and he seems like a normal, average guy – so that could be interesting and have a chance of lasting.
- Ben. I’m not sure where he got all those clinging tops with the wide holed necks that show off his neck + upper chest muscles but they kind of rub me the wrong way. He’s very deer in headlights when it comes to Tayshia. Maybe it’s a reflection of his maturity? Why can’t he just tell her how he feels? Is there any way he’s not going to come back to tell her? Because we know he won’t get a chance on the Men Tell All. Also, I adored his sister and the family friend’s conversation with Ben.
If I had to evaluate them all, I think Tayshia’s confidence + sense of adventure aligns most closely with Zac at this point. I see her being very excited about moving to NYC with him and starting a life there. Although Ivan…come on – they are perfectly matched. I just hope there’s enough spark between them.
I was trying to compare the running / hug / mount she gave to each guy – but that did not help distinguish her love for any of them. Bummer.
As for Men Tell All…if you didn’t see it yet, you can definitely skip. The best part was between Tayshia and Riley. The rest was pure nonsense. Still can’t stand Bennett. Anyone else talking was just trying to get more Instagram followers.
Ok, back to quarantine life over here.
For those of you in the Northeast, I hope you enjoyed the snow day this week!
