We had our 16 week check up this week and got 3-D images of our baby. How insane that something so little actually has a full head with eyes, a nose, a mouth and cheeks. We saw its fingers, spinal cord and even its little feet. Technology is certainly amazing. I thought the appointment was at 8:30 AM but at 8:15 AM, my cell phone rang and it was the doctor’s office telling me that I was supposed to be there at 8 AM and a mad rush ensued to get to the office. Of course we couldn’t find the entrance (we went to a special imaging place instead of my regular OB/GYN) and once we did find it they sent us to a different entrance and then as punishment for being late, they made us wait for 40 minutes and took about 4 other patients before me, but it was all worth it to see that little alien looking thing inside of me.
Lately, people have been asking me if I’ve had any cravings. I wouldn’t say there’s one thing that I always want. More like 100 things that I want, one at a time. I’ve decided to make a list of every food that I’ve craved in the past 3 weeks, starting with today:
Today: Tater Tots (got a whiff of this in my office’s cafeteria today and couldn’t stop thinking about them)
Yesterday: Cool Ranch Doritos (I was FaceTiming with my 5 year old nephew who was eating a bag of these in my sister’s minivan and it made me need them)
Day Before Yesterday: Ice Water with Lemon. But this gave me serious heartburn, so then I wanted (or rather needed) Tums.
All the Days Before The Above: plain spaghetti with plain red sauce, red grapefruit, fritos, peanut butter frozen yogurt, hummus and pretzel chips, plain salad with cucumbers, carrots with oil and vinegar dressing, chicken parmigiana, grilled cheese with tomato and pickles. And because I can’t have it, I’ve been DYING for a Subway turkey sandwich, a spicy tuna roll and a Diet Coke. I don’t know that any of these things are necessarily unique, and I’m pretty much hungry all the time, but there you have it. I’ve learned, however, that no matter how starving I am, I’m usually stuffed after the first 5 bites of anything. Guess there’s less room in the stomach these days with this little alien child growing inside.
I’m off to Paris and London tomorrow for a work trip, where I plan on having many cravings for croissants and crepes, in that order. In fact, those two things sound so good that perhaps I’ll need to stay in Paris and launch a Cro-Nut shop. I’ll be leaving behind my men (The Husband and Wally) which makes me sad but I’m happy to get out of the office for a week and this will likely be one of my last big adventures before the baby comes.
Alright, time for some shut eye and last minute packing. ‘Til next time.
PS: Did anyone see the ridiculous rumors about Ben Flajnik (former Bachelor) dating Kris Jenner? Ben spoke out to deny the claims and even admitted that he is dating someone in the winery business. Good for him!
