The Bachelor Visits St. Croix: Tierra Loses Control of Herself & Her Eyebrows

Look Sean, I found my sparkle!

There are 3 surefire ways to get the boot on any given season of The Bachelor:

(1) Complain as much as possible.  Either in general (e.g., “It’s so hot,”  ”My make-up is running”) or something specific that others want to murder you for (e.g., Tierra complaining that she didn’t get a date on the water (because she’s SUCH a great swimmer) instead of a walk around town when others would be willing to drink goat milk for any one on one Sean time);

(2) Initiate the bad mouthing of another girl to the Bachelor.  Nobody asked – you just feel the need to “help him out” or “point out the true colors of another competitor.”  This always goes wrong.  The Bachelor is annoyed you’re causing drama and not focused on just HIM HIM HIM.  If you’re talking about another girl and nobody asked you, you’ve probably got one foot out the door.

(3) If The Bachelor asks you about another girl, it doesn’t matter that you didn’t volunteer the info – you’re soon to be dumped.  Lesley was asked about the drama in the house.  Tonight, she’s gone.  It’s not her fault, of course.  But if the Bachelor is asking you about someone else, it’s a very bad sign – mostly because if he actually liked you, he wouldn’t care about the drama, the hated girl and the cause of all of it.  He’d be so into you, it would seem like a waste of time to bring it up.  AshLee got past this last round, but let’s be honest – Sean’s on the fence about her.  She’s certainly one of the hottest girls left and even Lesley’s adorable rose ceremony dress (that might be the best dress a contestant was ever sent home in) could not match his passion for AshLee (or her tight fitted banana yellow curve hugging dress)

Some quick thoughts on tonight and I’m going out of order chronologically:

AshLee is a strong girl – that was such an intense scene between Tierra and her that I wasn’t sure how AshLee would survive. My heart would have been racing with rage during that interaction.  AshLee contained her composure miraculously (almost like she had just finished a yoga workout) – even when Tierra started spewing nasty remarks about AshLee’s age.

I hate the following expressions: “throw under a bus” and “sabotaged my relationship with Sean”

The Husband and I both applauded when Sean had his “time to ditch Tierra” epiphany.  BRAVO, Sean.  BRAVO.

The Husband is also threatening that he is going to take my sparkle away from me.  As if!

I thought Tierra was DEFINITELY going to come back, all composed and fight for another chance.  Still not sure we’ve seen the last of her.  Isn’t there always someone who comes back on the exotic overnight dates? I’m sure the producers would fly her back for some drama.

Catherine was more upset about Lesley going home than Lesley was.  The editing in the previews made it look like Catherine was crying because of something Sean did with Tierra.  I’m very confused about this crying.  Shouldn’t Lesley going home mean that you are one step closer to marrying Mr. Dreamboat?  Catherine believes (to the point of tears) that Lesley had more in common with Sean than she did?

Sean’s sister was very attractive – and I LOVE that she kept giving it to him straight – don’t pick the girl that doesn’t get along with the other girls.  I also LOVED that she made reference to Ben Flajnik’s season and his choice of Courtney Robertson when she warned Sean against picking the girl that everyone hates (which has happened in past seasons).  Brilliant advice.

AshLee’s screaming of “I LOVE SEAN” on their date was both terrifying and amazing.  First off, I have to admit – it gave me chills.  Don’t ask me why.  I’m not even sure if I like AshLee.  I think it reminded me of Sean’s date with Emily Maynard in London when he got up on some pedestal and started preaching about love.  Her willingness to fall so hard, so fast and the fact that this man, in a matter of weeks, has allowed her to overcome her childhood abandonment issues is so ridiculously unbelievable, that I can’t stop watching where their relationship goes.  AshLee’s sudden love for Sean is like that Phish song, “like an antelope out of control”   I picture her organizing the other women’s date outfits and shoes by color and style in between dates.  There’s something extremely intense about her that I’m not sure quite matches up with Sean’s happy-go-lucky personality.

I so thought AshLee’s “secret” would be that she has a child, got divorced or was in jail for murdering someone as a minor.  It would have been kind of fun to learn she was a jailbird.  Not that getting married as a high schooler is much better.  Does this not show that she was a headstrong, stubborn teenager who was out of her mind for a while?  Is that the kind of thing that can be tamed?

Is Sean attracted to women with major life problems or struggles in life?  We’ve got Catherine whose dad tried to commit suicide in front of her and who now lives away from the family.  Was that before or after a tree fell on Catherine’s friend in summer camp?  We’ve got AshLee who was abandoned, married and divorced before she was 18 (and is now in love with Sean).  We’ve got Dez who grew up in a trailer park and was embarrassed about her upbringing and who has a questionably hostile brother based on next week’s previews.  Does Lindsay the bridal gown girl not seem like a prize in comparison?  And what about Lesley?  Didn’t we all love Lesley? I think we can all admit that they had less passion and chemistry in comparison with the other girls, but still – she was just so NORMAL.  How is she supposed to compete with trailer parks, falling trees and abandonment?!  Come on Lesley, get a problem!  Sean definitely seems almost intrigued by these ladies’ struggles.  Am I wrong?

Tierra.  Oh my gosh, Tierra.  I do believe she really liked Sean.  I also think she was really immature and didn’t know how to deal with the pressures of being in the house.  She put herself in that position, but I still don’t think she’s the most horrible person in the world.  She was mean to AshLee about her age (Could Tierra be any ruder to not only think that 32 is “cougar” age but to actually say to AshLee’s face that she hopes that at 32, she’ll be married with children??).

Why didn’t we see a night time segment to Lesley’s date?

The girls must have been exhausted on that group date.  4 AM wake up to a 6 something sunset. I would have been sleeping in the car.  I was shocked that Sean gave Lindsay the rose on that date – mostly because Catherine poured her heart out about her family and Dez was openly crying to him and Sean LOVES tears.  This proves to me that Sean values light hearted conversation over deep talks and tears.  AshLee seems to be incapable of small talk.  But that’s ok, because she makes up for that by being long and lean and willing to roll around on the beach making out with Sean as the waves gently crash on top of them.  I also noticed the dramatic Bachelor music was in full gear this episode, particularly on AshLee’s date.

Tierra loves fig? How random of a love. Speaking of love, you have to admire Tierra’s self confidence in the wake up being attacked by AshLee.  ”Men love me,” Tierra fires at her.  But my favorite line of the night was Tierra defending her much talked about eyebrows. “I can’t control my eyebrow.”  Wow, so they really are that expressive on their own.  No botox as Tierra gladly announces.  Pretty amazing!  There will be lots of things said about Tierra over the next few days – but you have to admit, she played a very good game for Sean. When she baby talks him, flashes her big smile and looks up at him asking for comfort, it’s hard for Sean to wonder what the other girls are so crazed about.  I hope that in watching back these episodes, any questions he had about her were safely put to rest.

The Husband and I were looking up The Buccaneer hotel in St. Croix during the episode – too bad there are no direct flights from NY.  We’d have a blast there.

What an awesome episode!  But even better – hometown dates look like they’ll be INSANE.  We’ve never seen a Bachelor get into a borderline verbal altercation with a member of a contestant’s family before.  Dez’s brother may prove he’s the king of the trailer park.  How can anyone doubt Sean’s integrity?  A guy who is looking for love on a reality tv show?  Who could question such a concept?  HOLY cow, Guys, I can’t wait til next Monday!!!

I will leave you with this pic of Wally during tonight’s Bachelor.  He has clearly had his fill of this show:

Zzzzzz….all these bitches….is Tierra gone yet?…zzzzzzzzZZZZ

I try to keep in mind at all times how editing on the Bachelor/Bachelorette can make someone look like a villain. However the fact that Tierra, a 24 year old basically said to Ashlee that something was wrong with her for not being married with kids by 32 years is a pretty good indicator that Tierra is immature and has a real mean streak.

  2. jan says:

I love the comment about THE Husband and your Sparkle ; “as if!” . You made me laugh out loud! (I’m a middle school teacher and so appreciate the entertainment that YOU provide!)

  3. Eva says:

AshLee reminds me of a praying mantis, something very alien-like about her, maybe she’s just too thin. She’s waaaaay intense, I think Sean kind of gets uncomfortable. Hopefully is just the editing, but she doesn’t seem like she can relax.

    • Stacey B says:

Eva, I can see that. She’s very exotic and beautiful though and yeah, maybe she just needs a few drinks in her to chill a bit. The love thing is like a drug.

  4. katbyrd says:

FINALLY!! Sparklebutt was sent packing!! My prediction is that not only will she still be single at 32, but most probably at 42 as well. What a spoiled brat! Parents of little kids out there, take heed. Learn. You’re not doing your kids any favors by bringing them up in a fantasy world.

  5. Jules says:

I love your blog and love that Tierra’s gone. However, there is something that bothers me. Living in a trailer park qualifies as a “major life problem”? You seem so appalled about this and I feel sorry for any reader who may live in a trailer. Sounds a little snobbish.
I like all the remaining girls but agree that Ashlee is a little too serious. Can’t wait for hometown dates!

    • Stacey B says:

Jules – thanks for your comment. Meant no disrespect to anyone living a trailer. Let me clarify this by saying – Sean seems attracted to women who have had major struggles in their life. Making regular people who have not encountered such a struggle perhaps “less appealing” in Sean’s eyes? There just seems to be an extra amount of “struggle” this season with most of the ladies and they are really intense issues!

      • Yeah just wanted to put in a plug too for what you said Stacey. The way Dez brought up her life in a trailer park/tent, etc made it seem “sob storyish” Thus I think it’s all in the presentation and I completely agree Sean is intrigued by the drama – perhaps because it seems he has had little of his own growing up….

  6. Danielle says:

I love all of the remaining girls, but can’t help but think that AshLee may be more serious than Sean wants. Granted, they could be editing her more carefree moments out. But still, Sarah said in an interview that while Ashlee has a huge heart and is very sweet, she isn’t the goofball that she (Sarah) thinks Sean wants.
I think Catherine may have been crying because she thinks she and Lesley are pretty similar, and if Lesley got the boot, then surely she is next. Maybe it’s just me, but they do seem to have pretty similar personalities.

    • Stacey B says:

Danielle, agree – AshLee needs to lighten up or it’s not going to work. I hope we see more from Catherine. They seem to have the weakest connection of the remaining girls right now.

      • Patti says:

I agree with Danielle’s reason why Catherine was crying. When he sent Lesley home, it made her doubt her assessment of what Sean wants.

      • katbyrd says:

And makes me wonder if that is editing, too. Maybe the producers don’t want to “give away” his connection with Catherine? Wondering if she is The One?

  7. Hillary says:

I was sorry to see Lesley go. I think she held back with Sean, but she’s a classy, pretty, smart girl and if Sean had more time with her…he would’ve seen how great she is. Catherine crying at the end about Lesley leaving and what she had in common with Sean – maybe panicking she is not good enough for him, with all her baggage. They all have baggage, you’re right.

Sean should give a friendship ring to anyone but Lindsay. All the bachelors should give friendship rings. The engagement ring is actually quite an antiquated thing especially after knowing these women such a short time Maybe more people would make it on the show as couples. Poor Des…she had everything going for her…and then her crazy brother shows up. Hope this doesn’t ruin everything.

I think Sean may be looking around and saying – are these my only choices – what did I get myself into?

Tierra -good riddance. I would be friends with Sean’s sister in a heartbeat – cool lady!

Ashlee – she seem tense and intense. Something off. Who knew the girl in the wedding gown on the first show would have a chance?

I think Sean just deserves better than this. He is so handsome, poised, charismatic and likable, I hope at least he gets somet kind of entertainment gig out of this!

Don’t have a good feeling about the outcome of this.

    • Jenny says:

Sadly, we have seen that the bachelors generally make poor choices in the end. I agree that an engagement seems WAY premature. This TV reality thing might be a good way to meet several possible mates, but as a tool to choose the final one – it doesn’t work so well. You just need more time to get to know a person – or several persons – before plunging into marriage. I would love to see Sean decide to keep all four remaining women and date for a while in real life instead of having to send one after another home.

Also agree that Lesley had a lot going for her. I think she and Sean needed more time as friends before romance sparked.

Oh well – that’s the Bachelor for you. I think I mostly agree with Wally on this one – fast forwarded a lot!

    • Stacey B says:

Hillary / Jenny: I agree that Lesley was a big loss for Sean and he may not even know it yet. She was just so level headed and I think was pacing herself just a bit too much to ultimately outlove the other other girls. In the real world, they might have actually had a shot at a real relationship.

      • ADY says:

        Stacey,

I totally agree about Lesley pacing herself and being judicious and that seeming “too slow” for Sean. It’s almost like she was “too smart” for Sean, and too level-headed and mature. If Sean didn’t have these crazy bachelor expectations that after 6 weeks a woman should be screaming at the top of her lungs how in love she is with him, then maybe he would have given Lesley more time!

  8. Dawn says:

So now what? The crazy sparkle is gone and our beloved Lesley is gone. Now we have to tune in to watch Sean hang out with 4 girls that he doesn’t seem all that crazy about?
As much as I was applauding Tierra going home, I think I’m gonna miss that crazy dame.

    • Stacey B says:

Dawn: not to fear, next week looks to be pretty dramatic with Dez’s family. And don’t believe for a second that Tierra is gone. You know she’s going to try to put herself together and come back for another shot.

      • Barb says:

Yeah, I’m trying to remember the previews in the past and I wonder if the letter he reads during the last show while he is waiting for one of the final girls is actually from Tierra? I also remember in the first show they had what appeared to be an ex appear at some point…for Dez?

        • Stacey B says:

Barb – yes, was wondering about the same thing. In the previews we’ve seen a ex come back for Dez, an angry Dez brother and a hand written note from someone during the final rose ceremony. Definitely some drama ahead to look forward to.

          • Anon4 says:

Desiree is going to need a lot of time to heal from all this DRAMA surrounding
            her.

          • Anon says:

I have a feeling that the handwritten note is from Lesley trying to explain what she couldn’t say to Sean in person during her date before she was sent home.

  9. Marina says:

Did you notice that when Tierra cries there are NEVER tears? She just gets all red and sobs loudly, but we don’t see tears streaming down her face unlike we see on the other ladies (especially when they are going home.) She is extremely good at manipulating. She sobs, then quickly looks up at Sean with her sad puppy dog eyes and waits until he makes his move. When he doesn’t she throws her face back into her hands and “cries.” UGH! Can’t stand the girl. Glad she went home finally!

    • Stacey B says:

Marina – what about Tierra’s mascara run after her Lake Louise dip last week? I think that might qualify as tears, but then again, it could have been her judge smudging away. Yes, last night’s cry session was more about getting red faced and sobbing though, so I agree…it’s mysterious.

      • Anon4 says:

Once out of the water her mascara wasn’t running. It was after getting out of the car and into the wheelchair she looked a mess. Strange.

It seemed like she started howling (bawling) once she heard Sean come in the house. THAT sure backfired on her. I agree Marina. She didn’t have any tears in her eyes when Sean was next to her on the cot. She overshot her luck on trying to milk his pity.

Why didn’t she just get up and go with him to meet that «someone» he wanted her to meet? Everything would have been completely different (not that I wanted her to stay). She was just so self-absorbed that she was blind-sighted from immaturity.

Hope she learns from this experience and will grow from her errors.

  10. I didn’t get married until I was 31, so I guess I was almost a cougar…I love how calm Ashlee remained even while Tierra was spewing all her nasty comments. The eyebrow – it has a mind of its own? Strange. I am disappointed that Dez’s brother seems so nasty in next week’s episode because that could wreck it for her. I really like her but I think Sean will see the differences in their families and she will be gone. She has a fun personality and is very pretty – even without makeup! Catherine looked the same without makeup too. Both are very pretty girls. He needs someone natural like them…not someone who complains that her makeup will melt in the heat. It was only a matter of time before Tierra wrecked it for herself. I am glad Sean’s sister knocked some sense into him on that! She is very young and it shows. Anyway, once again I loved your comments on the episode!
    -Shelley

    • Stacey B says:

Shelley – I tried to figure this out last night, but I believe that I was 32 going on 33 when I got married. Which means I was definitely a cougar and then some!

      • ADY says:

I thought the cougar reference was not necessarily due to AshLee’s age but to do the fact that Sean is younger? (29, right?)

  11. Wahoo! I absolutely love reading everyone’s comments along with your blog Stacey. We’re all pleased that Sparklebutt is gone of course – but she did make for great television! And god bless whomever ends up with Tierra and her sparkle – after all “men love her” so my guess is she’ll be engaged by the WTA!

Although it surprises me…I see Sean having a ton of chemistry with Lindsay – they cannot keep their hands off of each other when they are together. This does not in itself make for a wife obviously, but it’s clear he can’t wait to share the fantasy suite with Lindsay and her wedding dress! I fully expect to see her go the distance.

Stacey I too picked up on the lack of nighttime scenage on Lesley’s date….and it looked as thought Sean walked her out and said nothing to her as to why she was being sent home which I thought was very strange. And there was no car interview with Lesley either. So perhaps all of these events were edited out….but why!? I guess they had to make room for the Tierra drama but would have liked to see Sean ‘splain himself to Lesley at least.

All in all very entertaining last night – and I think there was a rousing cheer heard round the world when sparkle got the boot. Cannot wait for hometown dates next week and a potential throwdown between Sean and Des’ bro! Till then….

    • Stacey B says:

Big Bach Fan – thanks for your comment! Yes, he really does seem to like Lindsay and she’s the most go-with-the-flow out of all of them. I LOVE her attitude of being fine with Sean spending time with the other girls because it will make him realize quicker that they are not right for him. That’s a brilliant mind set for survival on the show.

I read in Sean’s blog today that he was SHOCKED to hear that Lesley was in love with him. He said if she had actually told him, things might have been completely different. Must make Sean’s fiance (if he has one) feel great to read that, right?

      • That is so interesting – I haven’t had a chance to read the other blogs yet today aside from yours (which is my first pick anyway!) Lesley was so close to saying the “L” word to him last night – wonder how she reacted to watching unfold all over again….

      • Anon4 says:

How does his fiance like hearing «no one girl stands out» ???!!!!

  12. Kate says:

Fun night of Bachelor tv. Fun blog reading! To me, I think Lindsay, Catherine, and Dez have similar personalities – fun and bubbly. AshLee sort of seems the opposite. Although she is my favorite, Sean obviously likes the the fun, bubbly type or he wouldn’t have 3 of them for the final 4. Also, he sent the last blonde home last night. I think he’s drawn to dark haired girls and possibly darker skinned girls. (His statement that his last girlfriend was African/American and he’d dated other ethnic girls.) Maybe that bodes well for Catherine. Not sure of her ethnicity, but her mother looks Filipino.

As far as Sean’s aversion to “drama.” Yes, I can see why on this show he would want to get rid of it, but let me tell you something, “Seany Baby,” you’re never going to get rid of it completely! After all, you are marrying a woman!

    • Stacey B says:

Sean mentioned in his blog that he was very confident in giving hometown dates to the 3 girls on the group date. He gave individual dates to the girls he was less confident about.

Catherine is half Italian, half Filipino.

      • ADY says:

I think that’s smart. I like that Sean has used one-on-one dates to explore feelings that aren’t as strong and get more time with girls he has questions about. A lot of times bachelors make the opposite choice and it can leave them with a ton of questions about girls on the group dates.

  13. Beth says:

AshLee’s actions as a teenager should not be used to form an opinion of her as a 30 yr old woman. I, also had some trouble with my parents and ran off with a guy, but the immature, stubborn GIRL that made those decisions is not the woman I am today. It is not something that is ‘tamed’ as you say, but something you grow out of.

    • Stacey B says:

Good point, Beth. It looks like AshLee has grown out of her head strong ways, though she does admit to having “control” issues which stem from being abandoned. Not sure Sean could possibly cure these in a matter of weeks, but here’s hoping.

  14. ATL says:

Yea! It finally happened! Sean came to his senses and saw through the BS and sent Tierra packing. And yes, Marina, Tierra never had any tears. I wish I could be a fly on Sean’s wall as he watches these episodes each week – just to see his reactions!

Great comments everyone! I agree with all and that Stacey is a great blogger! I’m unsure about the remaining 4 ladies, and usually I’m rooting for a particular woman. Maybe he doesn’t ‘propose’? (Yes, antiquated!!)
    Until next week!…

    • Stacey B says:

ATL – thanks for your comment! As for the remaining 4 ladies – yes, he doesn’t seem to hold any of them way above the other. Lindsay is probably in the lead by a hair.

  15. Kate says:

One thing I was disappointed in last night was not getting to see a conversation between Shay and Tierra. I’m really surprised Tierra didn’t pull herself together and go running off to find Shay. She’s done that plenty of times in the past episodes with Sean.

  16. Whitney says:

Two of my favorite things: Bachelor and Pups(love that he is lying on a Redskin’s blanket)!

  17. Meagan says:

The number one thing wrong with girls like Tierra is that their parent tell them stupid things like “don’t let people take your sparkle”. This is one of the most ridiculous things I think I have ever heard! No wonder she acts like a spoiled brat. Wouldn’t a good parent say things like, don’t let them take away your ability to be generous, your intellect, your big heart, your tenacity? Her parents are to blame for her lack of self worth beyond a sparkle.

My two favorite quotes from the night were “I cant control my eyebrows” (I almost fell off my couch laughing so hard, who says that). And from Lesley when she takes a deep breath and says something like “I cant wait for that B**** to be gone”. Too bad Lesley didn’t get to enjoy anytime with out Tierra. I was sad to see her go, but there was no chemistry! Sean even said it himself, they didn’t spend time kissing and being touchy. Anyhow I read an article that says Tierra is already engaged and posted a picture on Twitter of a gaudy and very ugly, in my opinion, ring on her left hand. Not really a surprise!

    • OK seriously folks! Did I call Tierra’s engagement or what??? Thank you for posting that Megan! Guess men really do love her! Go figure :-)

      • Stacey B says:

The Tierra engagement rumors stem from a picture she posted on Instagram of a hand (hers?) with a chunky engagement ring. Link is here: http://instagram.com/p/VQYcgMmgUS/ Is she trying to show us how easy it really is to get engaged or is she just trying to prove a point (i.e., she did not lose her sparkle?). Who knows?! This may be the equivalent to Courtney R trying on wedding dresses when the rumors came out that Ben was cheating on her.

    • ADY says:

I think it’s a really ugly ring too, but all the comments on the twitterfeed were actually making me feel sad for Tierra. I mean, she’s completely selfish and mean and silly, but a lot of those things are just masking deep insecurity (as is the need to say things like “No one can take away my sparkle” etc. And when your worst side is shown to the whole world and people understandably hate you it’s just going to make her inferiority complex and defensiveness worse. sigh. It’s sad. Also, like Lesley said (I think it was Lesley), she is obviously a miserable person and that makes me feel sorry for her too!

      • Stacey B says:

ADY – thanks for your comments! I doubt Tierra is engaged. I’m sure she just tried on a ring and took a pic of it to raise questions. Plus she probably couldn’t reveal her status legally until the show finishes or unless it comes out through the show (on the Women Tell All). I’m sure Chris H will get to the bottom of it.

  18. ashlie says:

I don’t think I have every yelled out in joy in the bachelor or bachelorette history ever until last night! Sean has brains! YAY! I am so glad he listened to his sisters advice and listen to his own heart. Tierra was such a pain in the neck! For a sec there when they were having her last break down talk and he left I really thought he was going to go get her a rose or something, just like all the other times it worked for her. I wonder if she was thinking so too. I don’t think she had any idea what he was thinking until he said he flew his sister in. You could see it all over her face she knew she was screwed! lol I loved it! Her reaction while he put her in the car read she was so not into him. She is a lousy actress with all those tears. Also that “sparkle” her parents say they didn’t want her to lose (in her words) …She must manipulate everyone around her including her parents. They are so controlled by her! They created a monster and they know it! “Sparkle” must be another word for pain in the a$$!

    • Stacey B says:

Ashlie – you are funny. I feel like the word “sparkle” is associated with My Little Pony or Starlite toy products from the 80s. Sparkle Barbie or whatever. Don’t really get how this even came up last night, but it was awesome.

  19. Stephie C says:

I just want to say that in my world it is TOTALLY normal and respectable to remain unmarried into your 30′s! Certainly there is nothing wrong with marrying younger if you meet the right person, but there is no shame in being single longer. I only mention this in case there are women reading for whom Tierra’s comments might have stung. Of course, she’s an idiot, but even coming from an idiot, those words can be hurtful no matter what the source.

I think the best line of the night was ‘go back to your cot!’

    • Stacey B says:

Stephie C – EXCELLENT point. My view on the matter is that the longer you wait, the better on all these things (marriage, kids, etc.). I think the world knows not to take Tierra’s words to heart but thank you for raising this point.

  20. Kate says:

Stacey, will you be doing a 2nd blog on this episode?

  21. Laci says:

The preview is edited to make it look like Sean is going to physically fight Desire’s brother, but I remember that clip from a old preview. The guy that wants to punch Sean is her ex-boyfriend trying to win her back. Her brother just dislikes Sean. Sneaky editing…

    • Stacey B says:

Laci – I’m wondering if this was 2 separate incidents – if Dez has a brother who dislikes Sean AND there’s an ex who wants to get back with Dez. Most likely, it’s only one that’s been edited to look like the other, but at least it’s some promised drama since Tierra’s departure.

      • Laci says:

If there is only one incident, they’ve got me fooled really well. I went back and found the old scene and there are 2 different guys both with lips moving to the words that seem to be coming out of their mouths. Ex-boyfriend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tjUiW1IllA around 1:20 and brother from last weeks promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEeRV7SruG8 I am excited to see how this all unfolds! P.S. I love your blog and I might not watch the show without it :)

Stacey, I was thinking the same thing. From the initial previews I thought it was an ex, but now it seems like it’s just the brother. I hate when they do that. Very similar to how they edited the whole preview of the fall down the stairs to seem like she was pushed.

  22. AC says:

I think it would have been much better if Sean waited until the rose ceremony to let Tierra go. I would have loved to see the other girls’ reactions.

I am also sad to see Lesley go.

    Looking forward to next week!

    • Stacey B says:

AC: can you imagine the tension that would have erupted had Tierra left during the rose ceremony?

      • AC says:

I would have loved to see that. Imagine if she made a scene and started yelling at everyone. Would have been great TV.

        • AC says:

Btw, I read your blog every week but it’s the first time I make a comment. Love it.

I also wanted to make a comment about Sean. I never cared for him in Emily’s season. I found him OK but not interesting enough. I started liking him more during this season but I get the feeling that he’s not very caring with the girls. These girls have told him so many sad stories about their childhood and I never saw him reacting with a lot of emotion. No hugs or I’m sorry you went through that. So I’m still not sure about him.

  23. Stephanie says:

I am sad Lesley is gone, because I think I liked her the best of the girls remaining. When Lindsay talks sometimes she seems really cheesey (and not in a cute way). And I like Catherine but also find something off in the way she talks sometimes. I really like Dez – she might be my top pick after last night. I like AshLee, and LOVED how she stood up to Tierra – so calm and collected! I would never be able to fight with someone like that without shakin’ in my boots! But I agree that ultimately Sean isn’t as attracted to her as he is the other girls.

I hope Lesley is the next Bachelorette!

Is it me, or does anyone else think that Stacey B and Lesley have a similar look?

  24. Leanne says:

Hooray for Sean… actually listened to his sister!!

  25. Mike says:

I thought this was one of the best episodes in a long time.
Glad Tierra is gone, very sad that Leslie isn’t there either.
I liked Leslie a lot, and thought she was smart, funny and normal.
Would love to see Leslie come back, or at least be the next Bachelorette

  26. Curious says:

Did anyone notice that this particular episode had a tremendous number of photographers suddenly appearing in the background? If one was getting lost in the fantasy and romance of the Bach, these folks sneaking around in the bushes reminded one that it is, in essence, just a reality show. No wonder Lesley was unable to bare her emotions to Sean! There was probably someone only inches away from them. I’m sad to see her go. She was definitely one of if not the most appealing women of the group. I agree with those who say she’d make a great Bachelorette!

    • Stacey B says:

Hi Curious – yes, the camera people were everywhere! BTW, did anyone notice Sean’s bruises on his legs? Apparently the night before his Tierra date, he got into a bad car accident. Wonder why they didn’t address that!

  27. jennie says:

    Lesley for the next bachelorette!

  28. Anon4 says:

    Stacey,

Great comments. Hope more are coming!

Sean said it best: Tierra lacked the maturity and the basic social skills necessary for having success on the Bachelor. It must have truly been torture for her. Thank goodness Sean put her (and us) out of her misery!

Wally is just too cute sleeping on his back. Did he catch a glimpse of Ashlee’s pup at the end??? Maybe *that* would perk him up.

If only he had known that Leslie M. had those strong feelings for him! I really wanted to meet her family and see the lake house. She is such a well-rounded, and well-grounded person. Sean missed out (ha). Next week looks crazier yet.

This is a great season and Sean is the best Bachelor.

    • Anon4 says:

oops if only Sean had known…NOT WALLY!!!

    • Stacey B says:

Anon4 – couldn’t agree more! At first I thought you wrote that Lesley is well groomed, instead of grounded and I agree with both of these statements. Sean is really the greatest bachelor in a very long time. So impressed with him.

  29. Barb says:

I would gladly vote Lesley for next bachelorette. I’m always confused about how these bachelors can be so upset over a girl not baring her soul when in reality they have not dated long, they have not dated exclusively and there are a ton of cameras….do they really expect someone to profess love under those circumstances. Really, I think I would be more concerned about the ones that are saying it. I know I won’t be popular for this, but I just can not see him with AshLee. I do admire her composure with Tierra, but she just seems almost needy somehow…can’t put my finger on. It’s not that I don’t feel bad for her past…but the whole blind fold thing and all the trust issues. It’s like Brad Womack all over again for me. I think out of the girls left Lindsey seems to be the best fit….but they all are adorable!

  30. Patty says:

I really appreciate that Sean listened to his sister. I was so nice to hear her tell him not to make the same mistakes as the other Bachelors. I think it was also telling the Tierra did not want to meet Shay. Probably because she knew that Shay would see right through her!

  31. backchat says:

Loved that Sean listened to the advice of his sister. Also, I liked what he said to Shay after he let Tierra go…about how someone with so many emotional reactions isn’t ready for a relationship. He could see that being with her would be one long emotional roller coaster ride… and I think he appreciates the relationship with his sister enough to realize a woman like Tierra- with drama all around- wouldn’t fit with his fun loving family.

Tierra’s interactions with the other women and her snappish comments when arguing with AshLee reminded me of some very unstable people I have known in my life. Even in the exit van, Tierra was blaming the other women for “what they did” to her- not taking any responsibility for her actions. I was surprised she didn’t fling her “eternity” bracelet at Sean!

I was hoping they would show Sean and his sister kicking back later that night, having cocktails and laughing about what a weird journey he was on.

I will miss Lesley- she was so “real” for reality t.v.

    • Barb says:

That was a perfect way to describe Lesley….she seems so real. I loved that last clip where she asked him about his family traditions…that whole thing cracked me up…I would love to be in his family, they seem so fun. I never saw that side of Sean (except the home town date) the whole time he was on Emily’s season….it seemed like Lesley brought it out…I will miss her!

    • Stacey B says:

backchat – I will miss Lesley too. Already do. Sean mentioned in his blog that he flew his sister to St. Croix for her birthday. What a nice bro! I’m thinking the show had to pay for it though, right? I wonder what Tierra will have to say for herself at the Women Tell All.

      • AC says:

I agree! Loved Leslie and she will make a great bachelorette. She is real and so cute!

Do you think that Tierra would try a Courtney move in the WTA? “Oh really I am such a nice person, blah, blah, blah” LOL.

      • Anon4 says:

Will she even come to the WTA???

  32. Tracy says:

Overheard in the elevator: “Tierra’s gone! Sean’s sister came, and he went to get Tierra, and then he sent her home!” I cracked up. We all agreed with Lesley (“I hate that bitch”).

The drama makes good TV, but why don’t these women ever just walk out of the room when dealing with the crazies (if there’s a rule against that, Tierra broke it many times)? And when the Bachelor asks, why not just laugh it off by saying you hate drama, too?

In support of AshLee, I got married at 33. Trista Sutter blogs that she got married a few months shy of 32. We’re both still married. I predict Tierra will be married by 32–but also divorced. You’re not a “cougar” if you’re basically the same age–and AshLee’s closer to Sean’s age than Tierra.

I love the random stuff they coach the Bachelor to say, like about how there’s so much “history” at the sugar mill. You mean, like slavery? Good thing the other Leslie and Robyn weren’t still around for that group date.

I think you’re right that Sean is attracted to women with troubles, so he can make it all better in a manly kind of way. (“Come on Lesley, get a problem!”–too funny!) That gives Lindsay the edge–but it’s hard to be the top man if her dad’s a general. So maybe Catherine, with the troubles but absent dad, is the one? Or maybe the Des brother/ex previews are just a red herring, and she’s the winner? I think Ashlee might be too intense and serious for him.

    Keep sparkling!

    • Stacey B says:

Tracy, thanks for your great comment! Good point re: the “History” of the sugar mill. Not very romantic if they really stopped to research what had taken place there. I also love your point re: Sean not being able to be the “top man” if Lindsay is his pick given her dad’s military background. Sean wants to feel manly manish so with the girls left, I think that would be Dez (he could be her knight in shining armor) or Catherine (absentee dad, Sean could fill the shoes of the manly man). AshLee has control issues and may not be able to surrender herself to Sean as easily. Plus he mentioned that he doesn’t have as much “fun” with her as the other remaining girls. That’s a red flag right there.

    • Anon4 says:

      Cute. Keep sparkling!!!

  33. ADY says:

I watched the episode last night and my husband and I spent WAY too much time discussing it late into the night. (I got him hooked on Emily Maynard’s season and after she and Jef broke up he was so heartbroken he refused to watch future seasons with me. He said he couldn’t handle getting that emotionally invested in it only to be disappointed, and he was probably 70% serious! Thankfully I convinced him that we would make this season more of a “fun, let’s laugh at the craziness and not get too invested” outlet and boy, Tierra sure has helped us accomplish this goal :) )

Lesley: I put her in the top five from the beginning and was also sad about their lack of chemistry on their date, and curious we didn’t see an evening portion. It looked like all they did was pick avocados and have an awkward conversation by a fence! She was a great balance of sweet and sensible without getting too wrapped up in the drama. As much as I like her and miss her level-headedness, I really don’t think she should be the next bachelorette. In my opinion, if she’s too self-possessed and logical to fall in love with Sean in 6 weeks, I don’t think she’d be a good fit for letting herself fall in love with multiple guys at the same time! This isn’t a criticism, it’s kind of a backhanded compliment.

Catherine: While I question their chemistry a bit on this last episode, their one-on-one date was the most genuinely happy I’ve seen Sean this whole season. She was so easy going, so fun and they just laughed and smiled and rolled around in the snow….that bodes well for her.

Des: From night 1 I picked her to be the winner or the next bachelorette (my husband can attest to this :) ) I like her because she’s sweet and fun, she’s not high maintenance or dramatic, she looks amazing with and without makeup, and I think she has a decent amount of substance and intelligence.

My husband insists that intelligence really isn’t at the top of Sean’s list. Not that he wants a stupid girl, but he values fun and carefree-ness way more than intelligence. I think this is one reason Lesley went home, another reason why AshLee won’t be in the final 2 and also makes me concerned for Des’s future. I NEVER thought Lindsay would make it so far but she is the most easy-going almost girlish (though not stupid or anything) of all of them and Sean really likes that. It seems like what he wants at the end of the day is a cute, pretty girl who is fun and low maintenance and adores him to death. Although this does make me wonder how it fits into Sean’s complex of “rescuing women”. He loved rescuing Tierra, and I think those impulses might play out with Catherine too, although even when sharing past traumas she wasn’t super “needy” about it like Tierra was.

The girls: Can you believe how sweet all the girls have been on this season, with the exception of Tierra? I mean honestly, i can’t remember a bachelor house getting along so well. Maybe it’s because they were all united vs. Tierra, but they really do seem to genuinely care about each other and I think that speaks to the quality of the girls.

Last thought: I honestly have no idea who he will pick. My top 3 are Desiree, Catherine and Lindsay in that order, but i’m not sure how Sean feels. Also how would YOU feel if you were his fiancee watching this with him and hear him tell his sister that, except for Tierra, “none of the other girls really stand out”?! That makes me nervous for how this will end up.

    • Stacey B says:

Yes, not sure how this will all play out as there doesn’t seem to be a clear “pick” for Sean at this point. Which means the hometown dates will probably be very telling for him.

      • Anon4 says:

Just looking at the profile pictures I thought that Lindsay looked like his type. Never did I imagine for one minute she would show up in a wedding gown and act so crazy! Wonder if her dad is giving her heat for that first week episode?!

Lesley is such a great catch. Hmm between AshLee and Lesley for Bachelorette, we’d all agree that Lesley is lots of fun and would be great. But AshLee could really benefit from being the Bachelorette. She really has been opening up. It would be great for her.

        Hmmm…

Can’t wait for next week with 2 episodes again. It is next week, right?

        • Stacey B says:

Anon 4 – yes, next week there is a regular episode on Monday and then a “Sean Tells All” on Tuesday which is for 1 hour. This is just Chris Harrison sitting down with Sean and asking him where his head’s at.

  34. Anon4 says:

    PS
You’d think that Des’s brother is from Arkansas (and not Lesley). He looks like a FEUDING Hatfield or a McCoy. That probably hasn’t set well with Sean. If he keeps her and then her EX comes back—WOW.

    THAT is drama!

  35. backchat says:

I don’t put too much thought into what the Bachelor says about the women, because the statements are often “canned” and have been used season after season. And perhaps what he meant about no one standing out meant no one standing out as a drama queen! I mean he didn’t say, “there is one girl who has such a sparkle, but I am not sure about her.” Hahaha!

I am happy there is another episode next week, but the fact that it is airing before the finale just leads me to believe that it will be empty statements, generic ones. But maybe it was filmed very recently and it is Sean talking about what he has seen so far after it was all edited?

  36. Amy says:

I’m just now catching up on this season, so you may not even see this comment. But a couple of thoughts.

If Ashlee is a cougar I must be some sort of jaguar. I was 32 when I got married, and my husband was 22. Scandalous!

Tierra looks so much like a brunette Kate Hudson. Especially when Kate played crazy in How to Lose a Guy in 10 days.

I’ve never been this far into a season and not known who they were most in love with. Bummer. There’s no Roberto/Ali, or Jef/Emily type of fireworks between Sean and any of the remaining girls. Almost wishing he’d have a late epiphany about Lesley and ask her out for coffee (ala Mesnick)

Keep in mind, I just finished the St. Croix episode, so maybe I’ll see some fireworks in hometown dates that aren’t yet apparent.

Great blogging, ABC should definitely hire you to do recaps.
