It was slushy, dirty melting snow everywhere this weekend and this morning on the way to work was no better. Despite the early hour, I was glad to get out of the apartment, even if heading to the office. I feel like I’ve been cooped up for days and need one of those lamps to sit under which will make me happier. Depressing to think that I don’t ever see sunlight these days! I’m proud to announce that Wally the Puppy held himself during the blizzard for a full 16 hours. I tried taking him out on Friday night during the height of the blizzard but he refused to go (Side note: there is a horrible picture on The Husband’s phone of Wally and me bundled up so thickly that neither one of us can see). After 30 minutes of taking him under various scaffolding options within a 5 minute walk of our building, I gave up. The next morning, however, he went right away once the storm ended. Later in the day, I took him to Central Park where he proceeded to dart in 1700 different directions, shivering like crazy, but loved every second of it. There were hundreds and hundreds of people in the park on Saturday, testing out sleds and letting their kids run around like they hadn’t been outside in months. Because the streets and sidewalks had not been cleared yet, families were dragging their kids around on sleighs instead of strollers. It was quite a sight. It was so crowded with both children and adults sledding on any open area resembling a hill that we eventually had to leave, for fear Wally would get squashed. As soon as we walked into the apartment, Wally indicated how over-excited he was to have left the apartment for more than 5 minutes by promptly urinating all over our couch. BAD PUPPY! Just when I thought he was totally house broken. He knew he was in trouble, as he spent the rest of the weekend giving me puppy eyes (translation: PLEASE FORGIVE ME, I’M ONLY 8 MONTHS OLD – WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?). I took away the doggie stairs we have that help him get to the couch and Wally revealed his new found ability to leap directly onto the couch. Too smart. Eventually I gave up directing him off the couch. Hard to stay mad at him when he promptly drops into my lap and instantly falls asleep.
We did manage to watch a heck of a lot of TV and movies this weekend. First, we tried watching Lincoln (The Husband gets these movies as downloads through his membership in SAG). I fell asleep within 30 minutes. If you’re a true history or political buff, you’ll appreciate Daniel Day Lewis’s performance as President Lincoln, but otherwise I’d say this movie is the EXACT OPPOSITE of The Bachelor. Which explains why I didn’t make it very long. We did manage to see a couple episodes of Revenge, but are not fully caught up. I got in a couple of Snooki & JWOWW’s MTV episodes and saw the birth of Snooki’s baby (mind blowing, really, that she’s a mom). We saw Love Actually which The Husband had recorded a couple week’s ago. I realized that I never saw this movie all the way through (how did that happen?) and that the actor (Andrew Lincoln) who plays a young guy in love with his best friend’s wife, is the lead actor (Sheriff Rick) in AMC’s The Walking Dead. I loved Love Actually (who doesn’t?) but was annoyed that the Laura Linney character never resolves the fact that her brother’s dependency on her prohibits having a romantic relationship. Is that to show us that not everyone finds romantic love or that a brother/sister love is enough to be satisfactory? We also saw Rust & Bone (another SAG nominated Best Picture) which stars Marion Cottilard (who I love!) playing the role of beautiful killer whale instructor that loses her legs in a horrible work accident and her interaction with a down-on-his-luck single father who helps her through the aftermath of her accident. Overall, it was well acted, but pretty depressing. And because we hadn’t watched enough TV / Movies, I also saw most of The Grammy Awards last night. So great to see Justin Timberlake back on stage and Kelly Clarkson gave an incredible performance. Rihanna is so beautiful, so talented (I loved the Reggae jam session), but I still find it impossibly sad to witness the fact that she’s still in a relationship with Chris Brown.
Anyhow, lots to do before the countdown to St. Croix tonight on The Bachelor. I’m guessing we’ll finally see a Tierra one on one date. Will Sean finally see what the others see? We know AshLee will try to warn him (which doesn’t bode well for AshLee). I hope she has some luck. In case you’re in need for some good entertainment before tonight’s show, check out The Husband’s latest shower singing on my Facebook page: http://facebook.com/OfficeStace.
Til tonight! Oh and please send some good wishes to my law school friend, Alana ,who is in labor at this very moment! You know that kid wants to come out in time to see The Bachelor.

Looking forward to tonight! One thing I do not understand is how these girls think they are being helpful by warning the bachelor about someone else?!! It NEVER works! In fact, it always backfires and the girl is sent home crying. When will they learn?!!!
