The Bachelor: Three Plus Minutes in Heaven, Kacie B Blows It and Tierra Tumbles

Tonight’s episode of The Bachelor was action packed and I’m excited to break down some of the key components:

I love Lesley M

First off, how much do you love Lesley M? There’s pretty much nothing that I don’t love about her.  Her blush pink lace date dress was adorable and showed off what a knockout body she has.  She is so down to earth and has one of the most normal personalities of any of the women we’ve seen in a long time.  She’s not running around the house like a hyena screaming about how excited she is to be on the show or how “amazing” everything is.  She’s smart, sexy and goes with the flow.  She’s also remarkably calm and reminds me of my former hair dresser who recently moved back to Ireland.  I am constantly doing a double take when I see Lesley on screen.  She’s got beautiful hair as well – maybe they are related?  Lesley’s last name is “Murphy” so she must have some Irish blood in her too.  All in all, she’s got total chemistry with Sean and I was getting the “giddies” watching them together.  She’s from a close family, her parents are still holding hands and she took AP classes in high school.  Self-proclaimed nerd alert – I love her!

My beautiful hairdresser who could be Lesley’s stunt double

I liked the creativity of Lesley and Sean’s date – cheap way to have them make out on their first date in front of as many people as possible.  More impressive than their 3+ minute kiss was the fact that Sean’s father has a Guinness World Record for the fastest time traveling the 48 congruous states in 97 hours and 7 minutes.  Like father, like son in record breaking endeavors.  I was hoping that the kissing would be a bit more complex than a simple lip to lip lock, like some in between kisses and maybe even some tongue but I guess that increases the risk of lip separation and therefore forfeit.

How awkward for an entire first date to revolve around one long smooch with total strangers cheering you on while multiple cameras are doing close-ups the entire time.  What if you forgot to get a lip wax?  What if you realized you had onions in your breakfast omelet and forgot to brush your teeth?  What if you can’t breathe through your nose?  What if you have to sneeze or go to the bathroom really bad?  I’m so impressed with their stamina.

The group date was a prime opportunity to inspect the bikini bodies on the majority of the ladies and also get yet another glimpse of Sean’s tan, toned abs. Yum.  The Husband observed that besides Tierra and Selma, none of this season’s women are really busty.  I hadn’t noticed, so thank goodness he’s around to point this kind of stuff out. I suppose this is a disappointment to the men watching, but I think they women are attractive enough to retain male attention.  There should be a rule for these competitive group dates that anyone on the losing team who cries should be sent home immediately.  That goes for you, Kristy and Other Leslie.   Kristy’s lumineers would be enough to send her home, but that with the crying – the decision is a no-brainer.

But let’s fast forward to a couple of things that occurred on the group date which I don’t understand:

(1) Why is Lindsay suddenly babbling about how she’s decided Sean is her eternal soul mate?  Where is this coming from?  Her speech about him having all the qualities she’s looking for and blah blah blah, was horrifying.  Shockingly, Sean must have not been as appalled as I was because he gave her the group date rose.  Lindsay seems sweet and all, but I’m not sure there’s much there depth wise.

(2) We MUST dissect the Amanda / Desiree conflict and then Kacie’s B subsequent diarrhea of the mouth around this conflict.  So we all knew that wide grinned Amanda was pissing off people left and right last week with her Jekyll and Hyde personalities.  This week, she’s just overconfident and this is rubbing Dez the wrong way.  I get this – they don’t like each other.  But just how on earth this affects Kacie B in any way, I don’t get.  I’m not sure what her “plan” was in telling Sean about the conflict and how it was affecting her enough to say something to him about it.  In my opinion, this was one of the WORST moves in Bachelor history.  On second thought, it has potential to be the most epic failure of any bachelorette’s private time with any Bachelor in the show’s history.  Not only because her concerns made absolutely no sense, BUT because we ALL know (including Sean) that talking about other girls was Kacie’s downfall on Ben Flajnik’s season.  Let’s refresh our memories: Kacie B approached Ben F and confessed how horrible of a person Courtney Robertson was.  How successful was this move originally?  Let’s see.  Ben F basically scolded her for bringing it up, eventually dumped her and then oh yes, picked Courtney to be his bride.  You’d think she would have learned her lesson.  Besides not learning from her past mistakes, we now know that Kacie B is completely caught up in the game.  Doesn’t she know that you have to completely ignore everyone else around you and be 100% focused on the Bachelor?  Plus if you’re going to say something, have a point.  Like – Amanda is fake and she’s fooling you.  Or Dez is sweet, but kind of looks like Popeye’s girlfriend, Olive Oyl, and may be a bit naive.  Instead, Kacie’s just saying that the drama between two other girls is bringing her down?? I don’t get it!  This conversation was like watching a car crash.

(3) When is Sean going to give red-headed Jackie a chance? I like her.  The Husband thinks she’s cute. But she’s not an aggressive type, so not sure this will happen.  I’d also like to see Robyn get a little more into the game. I’m sick of watching Amanda and Dez fall over Sean and I wasn’t impressed with Dez’s “I’m a little deeper than the rest of these girls and I can be serious and spiritual too” speech.  I think I liked Dez better last week when she wasn’t so insecure and weepy.

Then we’re all set for AshLee’s big date with Sean when BAM.  Or bam bam bam bam, Tierra falls down the stairs.  First off, shame on the editing of the show for making it look in the previews like one of the girls pushed her down.  Second, I think these girls were a little unforgiving.  I do NOT think she purposely would make herself fall down all those tiled stairs and hit her head for attention. She doesn’t need it – Sean adores her and she knows it.  The timing was unfortunate as it definitely put a damper on AshLee’s date, but still, I don’t think Tierra is the devil for falling down stairs and refusing medical attention.

AshLee – a dark horse?

As for AshLee’s Six Flags date – what a fun idea to have a theme park all to yourself with Mr. Perfect.  And yes, I liked the charity date idea. But that usually works best for a group date, and not for a first date which is one on one.  I sensed a sort of awkwardness in AshLee’s head that was saying, “What the hell are we going to do with 2 extra pre-teens to entertain on our date all day?” but she quickly adjusted her attitude.  In fact, AshLee was an incredible sport for going with the flow and this made me go from thinking of her as potentially crazy organizer / emotional lady to an admirable, strong hearted and confident potential dark horse in this competition.  Not to mention she is absolutely stunning.  Loved her date outfit, though not sure I would have chosen such high heeled sandals to walk around an amusement park in.  I didn’t expect to like AshLee as much as I did, but once she revealed the story about meeting her father and it made Sean’s eyes well up, I actually felt something.  I was also relieved to see that AshLee and Sean did at least get a little bit of alone time to properly smooch it out.

A few comments about the pre-rose ceremony party.  I almost burst into tears when that Sean escorted Sarah out to the limo to surprise her with a visit from her dog!! How priceless was that?  Sean is a HUGE dog lover, so that is a plus on the Sarah scoresheet.  What an awesome surprise! That may be the first Bachelor dog who rode a limo.  I wonder how he arranged for that without her knowing. How did he know where the dog was staying?  I loved that he arranged something special for her since she wasn’t on any of the dates this week.  Still loving Sarah as one of my top 3 favorites for Sean.

Dez’s insecurities really came out during this party.  Her little white sweetheart back white dress (here’s a link to the dress in red: http://shop.shopteddy.com/collections/cut-outs/products/hearts-desire-dress-in-red) was a bit ’50s prom for me, but she looked cute – until she started freaking out that Sean never came back to the bench where he got re-stolen by Tierra.  Calm down, Dez.  During your 30 seconds with Sean, you were making out with him, so I think that’s a pretty good sign he’s keeping you around.

So equally disappointing to Kacie B’s epic speech to Sean was her dress / hair at the rose ceremony.  Was that an athletic dress used for tennis or jogging and did it have light reflecting qualities?  Why did she go with the poofy pony?  At this point, I just feel bad for Kacie.  This was the biggest crash and burn I’ve seen and I think Kacie knew it at the end.  No tears in the limo – just regret for how she acted.  And Sean being the class act that he is, pulls her aside to privately end things.  Between this move and delivering Sarah’s dog to her as a surprise, are we all not in love with Sean right now?? What an incredible person he is!

Thankfully we were able to bid farewell to Kristy’s teeth, tears and Taryn, who we haven’t learned much about.  It looks like next week we’re going to witness history as it appears Sean will take the Other Leslie on a date and that will signify the FIRST one on one date with an African American contestant in the show’s history.  This is also the further than any African American woman has gotten in Bachelor history (and there are two of them).  This is definitely cause for celebration.  We’ll also get to see Sean and Selma together which is critical and Selma is beautiful, but we need to know if there’s anything more there.

And with that, my Bachelor friends, I will bid you good night.  I’m catching the 6:23 AM train tomorrow morning for an 8 AM meeting in Stamford.  Time to go prepare for the week ahead.  Can’t wait to hear all your thoughts on your favorites, what you thought of tonight’s episode and whether you have any idea what led to Kacie’s illogical “chat” with Sean (and why she was wearing a finger cast when Sean escorted her out).

The whole Kacie B thing smells like a set-up to me. I never saw any chemistry between the two. She crashed and burned just like she did with Ben, but she wasn’t quite the actress and didn’t create the drama that the show wanted. I could be wrong, but… anyway, Love Love Love Lesley M. I loved that they were about to burst out laughing during that epic kiss! I liked Dez initially…. now, not so much. I think she’s a little too immature. And AshLee…. I think she may have just become my favorite last night. Of course, things can change at the drop of a stilletto! I, too, wonder why Jackie hasn’t been given a chance yet…. saving the best for last, perhaps?

    • Stacey B says:

Katbyrd – sounds like we love / dislike the same girls. I’m still slightly concerned about AshLee given that when we were introduced to her, they showed a video of her discussing being adopted and the waterworks started. That was before she even Sean. I’m hoping she is emotionally stable enough to be a real contender.

  2. katbyrd says:

Oh, and I was going to comment about Thunder Thighs…..but I will save that comment for later. I think she was probably horrified to watch the show last night…..unless she has a sparkly on her finger a la Courtney. Hoping NOT.

  3. Teresa says:

What an episode last night! I fell in love with Lesley M! She’s so smart and down to Earth but yet a little awkward which makes her all the more fun and appealing. I loved her dress and wish I could pull that off for a Valentine’s date!

I cannot stand these competition group dates..the Women’s Movement always takes 100 steps back whenever there is one of these hideous dates where the women fight for time with a man and nonetheless in bikinis..haha. How can girls be crying already and saying they are in love and have found there soul mate!? Give me a break! It’s hard to feel that way after 2 weeks with someone when there are no cameras and other women dating the same man!! I am so glad Kristy got the boot…I guess the rush of emotions on this show is something I cannot understand but it’s week 3…

Kacie B..wow I was cringing throughout this whole conversation! Didn’t she learn her lesson from Ben’s season!!!! If not from her, but from poor Emily who crashed and burned trying to warn Ben about Courtney’s true colors…..EEK! I loved how Sean was absolutely dumbfounded and just came out and asked why she was getting involved…Kacie looked so stupid throughout this conversation it was hard to watch. She just did not make any sense..she could have pulled the whole “I’m just looking out for your best interest and these girls do not seem to be sincere” approach but she was just not explaining her concern well enough for it to make sense..HER OUTFIT…OH MY GOODNESS..I was screaming at the TV asking WTF are you wearing?!?!? You can dress up in any gown or cocktail dress you want and you choose a dress that can be bought at Modell’s!?! And the ponytail…OY She looked so bad..I’m happy she went home and I agree with a previous comment that it smells like a set-up from the producers in order to create drama..

I also like Jackie, she’s so cute and seems to be sweet and without the drama the other girls have. I hope we see more of her next week. I was sickened during the whole Tierra falling down the stairs…these editors made it seem like she was pushed down the stairs when really she was just a little drama queen whinning about going to the hospital..I wanted to slap her when she was yelling “I don’t want this..blah blah” just go to the hospital!

I enjoyed AshLee’s date although it was a little awkward. She seemed genuine and I teared up when Sean did as she told her story. I still love Sarah and freaked when the limo door opened and there was a doggy there!!! I immediately grabbed my little dog and thought how much I would miss him!

I am loving Sean so far but am getting sick of the weekly work out session we are forced to witness at the beginning of each episode…wait..no I’m not! I am impressed that your husband can sit and watch with you and even give creative comments. My man did nothing but crack jokes and make fun the whole time that I was forced to go into the other room to wacth!

    • Stacey B says:

Teresa – thanks for your great, detailed comment! And I agree that I’m not sure which was worse: Kacie B’s outfit or her explanation for bringing up the other girls to Sean…it’s a tough one. And yes, we are so not sick of Sean’s abs. Looks like he’s got a built in gym at his bachelor pad. If I had his body, I’d walk around naked all day and flex too.

  4. ATL says:

As always, Stacey, your analysis of the show was ‘spot on’! And we must be twins separated from birth (do our mothers know this??) because I always feel exactly the same way about the same women as you do!

Yes, we were all shouting, “Don’t do it, Kacie B!” – but she did it anyway. So perhaps they colluded with the producers to add some drama to the show: when Kacie and Sean both realized there wasn’t any chemistry.

I see Lesley M as the perfect woman for Sean: smart, gorgeous, funny, ‘real’ and adorable! I never pick the ‘winner’, though…..

    • Stacey B says:

ATL – The Husband thinks that Kacie was egged on by the producers to do something dramatic, only it didn’t come out quite right. I’m guessing that Kacie was hoping to reveal Amanda’s craziness and Dez’s immaturity or inability to get along with everyone, but instead Kacie came off as insane.

  5. Dawn says:

Oh Kacie. What in the world. I was cringing as well. I think what she wanted to say was “Look, there’s drama over here between the Catherine Keener lookalike and the Olive Oyl lookalike and I think you should know that they’re immature.” But my feeling is that she was trying to do it gingerly to not sound dramatic herself- and instead ended up looking worse. I really liked her in Ben’s season but this time around, I was hoping he’d send her packing. Doesn’t she know that the woman who gets the ring is never the woman who talks about all the other girls?

Love love love Lesley and may be developing a girl crush on her just like I did with Ali F. I hope she goes a long way, she seems very down to earth and good for Sean.

    • Stacey B says:

Dawn: totally agree. What bothers me most about Kacie is that I LOVED her on Ben’s season. But now she comes back and seems to think she’s the authority on all things Bachelor. If people aren’t acting with certain etiquette, she’s up in arms. I do wonder if it was her idea to say something or the producers?

  6. Meagan Alder says:

First off every time I see Jackie I cant help but think she looks like Malin Akerman from 27 Dresses!

Second Kaci B was a train wreck last night. Was it just me or sis she look completely plastered when talking to Sean? And her dress was ok, the pony tail I could have done without BUT the lime green SCRUNCHIE holding the tail was what did me in. WTH was she thinking?

Lesley M has been a front runner for me, she is like the Emilly O of this season, smart, funny and normal. Her outfits, make up and hair seem like things we could all pull off instead of these girls that come on looking like they stepped out of a catalog every night. Are there really that many women out there that own that many cute dresses and stylish outfits? How much money do they spend a year on clothing? Do they get a stylist with the show? All these things run thru my head the entire show,

Sarah may be my favorite. I did cry when her dog came out of the limo! What a super sweet thing for Sean to do! This made me love him more. Also AshLee is a wonderful girl with a sad story but I saw 0 chemistry between them. I loved how Lesley couldn’t even look at him when she talked, like she was so nervous! I like them together a lot better.

As always thank you for your hilarious blog! You are always so spot on:)

    • Stacey B says:

Ok, just googled Malin Ackerman and yes, with red hair, I can see how you think Jackie looks like her.

I LOVED Lesley M – and I think the reason we like her so much is because we feel like we could be friends with her. She’s just cool and Sean digs her. I hope she lasts. He keeps mentioning how comfortable he feels with her and I worry because “comfortable” is never something that bodes well for the “winner.” I do love Sarah too and both The Husband and I teared up when the dog appeared. According to Chris Harrison and Sean’s blogs today – the dog pooped all over the back seat of the limo. Hilarious!

  7. Kelly says:

Did anyone else notice the bad editing during the volleyball game? Since we know they do the interviews all throughout the season… when they interviewed Dez and Catherine during the game their interviews were not in California but looked like a tropical location in the background.. also Catherine is wearing a different bathing suit it is gray during volleyball and then teal/green in front of the bright blue water shot for the interview! So I guess we know now that Dez and Catherine make it far enough to go to an exotic location!

Also agree about Kacie, that speech was the kiss of death i was yelling at the TV!

    • Crystal says:

There was also some bad editing during the rose ceremony. It appeared that Desiree was the last to get a rose, however, when Sean was handing out a rose to another woman, you could see Desiree in the background with a rose already. And the number of roses on the table was fluctuating.

      • Stacey B says:

Crystal – thanks for pointing this out! I was thinking that Sean would not leave Dez as the last to receive the rose. Thx for catching that! Kelly: they alwayslove to edit the interviews and show them to us out of order. I find it really annoying – they did this a bunch on Ben’s season and it drove me crazy. I don’t want to know who makes it to the exotic, tropical dates but they give us no choice.

  8. Katie says:

You know what I love? The fact that Sean called Kacie out on her BS. What nonsense, and how can anyone think that a tiny tiff between two people would involve her, unless it’s a setup. I think there is a possibility that Kacie was brought into the show to create a little drama.

  9. Evangeline says:

l absolutely love your insights, Stacey! I think that for right now, my favorites are AshLee, Desiree, Selma, Leslie, and Sarah. I must say, I wasn’t expecting to find so many ladies that I liked after the first episode, but now that their personalities are coming out a little bit, I think there are some real winners out there.
Also, I wanted to inform you that there HAS in fact been a black contestant to make it farther than these two lovely ladies. Marshana Ritchie from Matt Grant (the British bachelor) was eliminated right before hometown dates :) I am excited to see such diversity this season though!

    • Stacey B says:

Thanks, Evangeline! Your favorites are my favorites but take out Dez. She’s bugging me way too much. I’m also a little concerned about AshLee. She was great last night, but crazy emotional from what we saw of her overall. I need to see more of Selma to see if there’s anything of substance, but she is beautiful. Jackie may be a good contender too – she just needs some time.

Thank you for the Matt Grant season info!!! I only watched the end of that season. I found him almost unwatchable as a Bachelor, shockingly. Didn’t he end up picking Shayne Lamas? She was pretty unwatchable too. I guess we can say this is the season with the most diverse candidates who have made it this far :) Actually, it may be another Guinness World Record.

  10. Cayce says:

Obviously Kacie B did not learn her lesson the first time, aka Ben’s season. That is the EXACT reason that she was sent home! UGH! I was yelling at the tv and tweeting like a mad woman. I couldn’t believe it. I knew she was doomed from the get-go because as I learned in college as the “guy’s girl,” once in friend-zone, always in friend-zone.
Sarah and Lesley M have been my faves since the first night. I just hope that Sean is keeping Sarah and the two African American girls around because he wants them there, not because producers are telling him to. I know it seems rude of me to say that, but I know that the producers do have a lot of influence that steers this away from complete reality, so I hope they’re not doing it to three very eligible women.

    • Stacey B says:

Cayce – agree w/ you. I also hope Lesley M doesn’t shift to the “friend” zone. He’s a bit too comfortable with her. I LOVED Sarah and at this point, I think she’s a valid contender!

  11. Julia says:

I cringed watching Kacie B. I have never really been a fan of hers even on Ben’s season..I think she is catty and loves to start things. I had no idea what she was even saying to Sean because it made no sense!! I am so glad Sean called her out on it!

LOVE Desiree and Ashlee, I think these two are total stand up girls!

  12. Joy says:

I returned from a business trip to watch DVR’s of Episode #1 & #2 and then made it a marathon with Monday’s #3. I may have missed some key comments, earlier. That being said; I blink at Des, thinking I’m seeing Katie Holmes, everytime! Does anyone else see that?

And, it could be the editing and how much I do NOT believe Kacie’s blurted-out tell to Sean…I don’t see the issue between Des and Amanda! Episode #2 captured Amanda languishing on the Coctail Party Couch, frowning, and then sparkling during her talk with Sean. I see her “Sybil” personality potential, and do not see her clashing with anyone in front of the camera. Kacie’s awkward inclusion in the original 25 played out to include just as awkward an exit. Thank goodness Sean is the bachelor. He practiced “good-by’s” with Ari afteral ;-)

And BTW…He may like Tierra a lot – I get only insincerity from her appearences. Hopes she leaves soon.

    • Stacey B says:

Hi Joy! So glad you’re back to join us with Bachelor! Yes, Dez has been getting some Katie Homes feedback. I kind of wanted Sean to say to Kacie – “It’s not you, it’s me.” But of course we’d all know this is never the case – it’s always them :)

  13. Christine says:

I agree watching Kacie B with Sean this week made her look so weak and insecure. I was like Kacie such a bad move! Also I thought her dress was sooo short and tight and did look like some sort of bad 80′s athletic wear. I hope something good happens for her, but no more bachelor lol.

I agree Dez was being kinda strange, but I still like her alot and I really, really like Lesley.

  14. backchat says:

Oh, Kacie! That whole thing was just so painful to watch. If this wasn’t a setup from producers, then I hope this girl gets some counseling. She has a lot to offer, but seems insecure and awkward. She will someday be a great catch for the right guy. And wow, Sean seems insightful when he asks her why she is involving herself and to lighten up and be herself.

Cayce, who commented earlier…I just wanted to share that sometimes being a guy’s girl (for me, it meant hanging out with the guys), well, it can lead to a more lasting relationship. My husband and I were best friends in high school, began dating in college, and have been married 25 years now. Starting out as friends really set the stage for a good marriage.

I am loving Leslie M. She is one smart, sweet, funny lady. And a knockout figure, too. Lucky girl!

I have a hard time thinking that Sean thought to bring Sarah’s dog for a visit. My inner skeptic thinks it was all the producer’s idea.

I am getting interested to learn more about the other ladies whose stories we know nothing about. The redhead, the gal from Seattle, the 2 ladies of color, Selma’s Persian roots. I am bored with Des, Amanda, Tierra!

    • Stacey B says:

Thanks for your comment, Backchat. Funny – my coworker made the comment that she thought the show was borderline boring. She was also disappointed that we were all supposed to be shocked by Tierra’s fall down the stairs, but nothing really happened beyond that. I too am ready to hear about some of the other women…

      • kkpete says:

I too thought the most dramatic show yet was a bit boring. Also, my male friend who watches with us noticed the lack of bustiness in the women on the group date. must be a guy thing!

  15. Mari says:

    Hi Stacey!
I am a HUGE fan of your blog. After every episode my boyfriend and I (yes, my boyfriend won’t admit it in public but he loves the show too) will go straight to your blog to read your comments. I love your observations on Kacey, they are SO true. I will say this though: you are so nice and kind that you are giving Tiera the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn’t put it past her to fake her injury specially since she seemed to get better as soon as Sean walked in like a knight in shinning armor to save her. She could have said she was fine before they called the ambulance. She might be on Sean’s radar but her lack of one on one time with him might have had her craving some of his attention. Plus from the preview of what’s to come with all her crying and all, it seems like she might be a bit of a drama queen. I know every season there is a villain and you never know with the editing that goes on in this show if there aren’t nicer sides to Tiera. But it can’t be denied that it was a bit weird to see her cause such a scene only to suddenly “get better” when the paramedics are about to take her away from Sean and into the ambulance. What a convenient time for her to feel better and then get some one on one time right before he leaves on a date with someone else. Hmm a bit suspicious if you as me!

    • Stacey B says:

Mari – It is YOU that is nice and kind – thank you for your supportive comment! Let me clarify re: Tierra: I 100% believe she will be this season’s villain (along with scary Amanda) based on the previews we have been given. BUT to date, I don’t have overwhelming evidence based on what we’ve seen on the show. I’m trying to give her the benefit of the doubt and also see what Sean sees. I get that she was extra perky when Sean was around after her fall, but I’m sure the whole thing happened really quickly and it was embarrassing and to top all that off, there were cameras everywhere AND she didn’t want to kill her chances with Sean. Yes she whined and was a bit of a drama queen but she just fell down a bunch of stairs and hit her head. That can’t feel good. Definitely suspicious at her quick recovery when Sean was there, but I don’t think this is enough to say she’s as devilish and mean as Courtney R was at this point on Ben’s season.

  16. Hillary says:

Yes, we all adore Sean. Is he not almost perfect? I sensed this on Emily’s season, so I couldn’t understand why she didn’t choose him.
I don’t think Sean was attracted to Kacie more than a friend. This was his “out”. She really blew that one. I think she was desperate. Couldn’t she have called him after their meeting in NYC and not made this so public. Why did she have to come on TV again? Yes, I didn’t like her outfit and hair and I think many of the girls don’t appear their best at the rose ceremony. Many look less attractive with their hair up. Dez should definitely wear her hair down, but I like her. Lesley is great and her dress was gorgeous. I don’t know what happened with Tierra, but I don’t trust her unless they’re editing it to make her look like a bitch. I feel bad for the girls that don’t get to spend time with Sean and don’t know why he isn’t more available to everyone. Why do they have to scratch and claw to get to talk to him? Does he ever say-”I’m talking to so and so now, so I can’t talk to you” or maybe that’s edited out. I don’t know why he waited to choose Dez till the last minute. Was that supposed to build up suspense?

    • Stacey B says:

Hi Hillary, I think there are some unspoken rules of being on the show that the girls have to abide by. One of them is that if Sean is with a girl and a second girl comes up and asks to speak to him or take him away, the first girl must concede and let this happen. In a couple of circumstances, the first girl might ask for a few more seconds, but that’s not what she’s supposed to do. I think what happened at the pre rose ceremony part was the amount of women who tried to grab his time kept building and building and a feeling of desperation was contagious (particularly for those girls who either didn’t get a date or were on the losing volleyball team). As one of the commenters mentioned above, Dez actually was not the last girl given a rose. But yes, they edited it to make it seems like she was last and this could only be to build drama.

  17. Lisa M says:

Hi Stacey… I thought Kacie looked like she was drunk. That would explain why she blabbed nonsense to Sean. Drinking only makes an emotional experience… more emotional. I think these ladies need to drink less! But then, it wouldn’t be as much fun to watch, right? lol

  18. Fellow bach fans! I hate to say it….but I told you so! Kacie B was suspect from the beginning. And honestly to pull the same BS with Sean as she did with Ben. The girl has some issues! Let’s hope she has used this time to do some serious soul searching and has learned a few things about herself. Let’s also hope that she has learned how to find a date somewhere other than television! Best of luck Kacie!

On with the show! Lesley M. I’m still on the fence a bit. The kissing record thing on the date was super cheesy – but let’s face it most of the dates are – and of course provide one more reason to love the show. What I did note about Lesley (among other things) was her discussion of her time in high school and her preference to spend time with family over friends. Which to me means, she is super tight with her family and introducing someone into that situation can be a challenge (good luck Sean should you decide to take it that far). Also Lesley seems to be embracing that somewhat awkward “nerd” persona which can be cute, but lacks sophistication and I sense that Sean wants a more sophisticated lady in the long run. I think Lesley is a late bloomer who is still in the bud stage.

The group date – OY! I too noticed the abundance of smaller busts in the crowd along with the brand placement – did anyone else notice the fact that the women were all wearing similar swimsuits which were clearly all from the same brand/designer? I agree with an earlier comment that these moments put women back a few years..at least there was a healthy competition! And the meltdowns post volleyball. I feel for these women…isolated from the entire world – forced to tolerate a bunch of other women all of whom are envisioning this ONE man as their future husband. Who wouldn’t melt down!

Finally I realized while watching this week that so far none of the women really remind me much of Emily – the woman who Sean was recently gaga over…or was he? :-) Enjoying the season with all of you!

Big Bach Fan: thanks for your great comment! The bikini aspect of the date reminded me of a Miss America competition. The only saving grace is that they have ridiculuosly flaunted Sean’s abs over and over, so at least they’re doing it both ways. And when he has the ladies sit on him while he does push-ups – that’s the same type of thing. I’m ok with it.

I think Lesley could be sophisticated as she seems really smart. But I’m wondering if Sean wants more of a girly girly girly girl like Emily M or would rather have someone more down to earth like Lesley. Guess we’ll see.

    Hi Stacey,

Loving the season so far, I like the approach Sean is taking to find the girl for him, and that that girl can come in many different packages! But what I thought about the most this episode was wardrobe! When these girls get picked to be on the bachelor, do they run out and buy all of these nice dresses?! And generally speaking, do you think they all come from pretty good financial situations? I loved Leslie’s lace dress too, and want to find one now! I noticed you sometimes know where their dresses are from, or similar ones, any ideas here?! Thank you for the great insights!

Samantha: Lesley M’s amazing open back floral lace dress in “blush” was made by BCBGeneration. It was available at Dillard’s and 6 PM, but the sites look like they are sold out now. That’s what usually happens when one of the bachelorettes wears a popular piece – but not to fear, I am sure they will restock soon enough. Side note: the dress also comes in black, which also seems to be sold out, but may be easier to find in the future.

    Stacey,
Love your blog. The best part of your blog is the backchat, you take the time to comment back, answer questions individually. I am sure it is very time consuming but very much appreciated. (yes, i noticed someone’s name is backchat that posted, love that too) Lesley M, the real deal, AshLee is way too intense, and Jackie is quiet, but so beautiful, she reminds me of the red hair Jen on Ben’s season (dive in the water hole date/chastised Courtney at the WTA for not knowing her name) I was thinking about how nice that was to bring Sarah’s dog…….I also wondered, if it was a nice diversion, with respect to her physical limitations…… that it would have been uncomfortable to put her on the group date that had them playing volleyball. I am not saying she would not be capable to play, just that perhaps from the viewer standpoint the show did want to look exploitative. Ok, just thoughts

Thanks, Maya. How sweet of you! I like the interaction. The best part of watching The Bachelor, is interacting with other fans like you! It’s really not a show to watch without analyzing with others. I had that thought about Sarah too – that probably the show and/or Sean didn’t want to make her uncomfortable in case she felt shy about playing volleyball.

Stacey, are you no longer doing two posts for each show? I really like checking out your comments right after the show and then checking back Tuesday for more in depth analysis. Love your blog as much as the show!

Kate: thanks for your note – didn’t realize anyone would miss my second post :) This week I had time to write a more detailed post right after the show whereas normally I finish the show late and try to post my initial thoughts with a longer post the day after. I don’t really think there was much to add for a full second post this week, but with each coming week there’s usually more to analyze, so I’ll most likely do the second post. Thanks for asking!! It makes me feel loved :)

I have been thinking about Kacie B, and I feel a little skeptical towards the idea that it was the producers who put her up to acting crazy. 1) This was the second time that she made this mistake. 2) We know Kacie B from Ben’s season. So why would the producers use someone we know, rather than an unknown woman who we can simply label as crazy? 3) If she came on the show to be with Sean, then why would she give into the producers? She has done this before, and watched her edited self on TV. She would be familiar with how the show can create drama through editing.
So my thoughts: Kacie watched Courtney win. While everyone hated Courtney, she saw the Bachelor as a competition and won. I read some articles after Ben’s season was over, which said that Courtney seriously worked hard to get Ben’s attention. (especially the episodes where she paints on Ben and goes topless etc…)
So maybe Kacie went in with a mentality that she had to win. She said more than once that she was being selfish, and we saw a more aggressive side of her this time around.
I think Kacie’s biggest mistakes are not realizing that Sean is not Ben, and gossiping instead of flirting.
